Mike Conley Rejoins the Wolves

Minnesota Timberwolves Mike Conley

The Timberwolves have re-signed guard Mike Conley Jr after trading him to Chicago just days ago. The 38 year old was dealt to the Bulls in what many believed was a move to financially set up a Giannis trade. The Bulls quickly sent Conley to the Hornets where he was bought out and became eligible to sign with any NBA outside of Chicago and Charlotte. Conley rejoins a Timberwolves team that has shifted its roster, bringing in Ayo Dosunmu and Julian Phillips and sending out Rob Dillingham and Leonard Miller.

Conley has been one of the least productive offensive players in the NBA this season, leading to frustration amongst Wolves fans. The addition of Dosunmu will likely take away some of the minutes that Conley was eating up. The major question here will be how head coach Chris Finch uses Conley. Finch has been known to turn to the veteran in times of stress which hasn't always proved useful for Minnesota.

One thing is for sure, Conley’s teammates will be happy to have him back in the locker room after his brief absence. Anthony Edwards expressed this when talking about Conley’s trade: “I keep hearing he can come back, so hopefully he will and I hope he see this. We want you back, Mike. He know we miss him.”

Overall, the Wolves were able to trade Conley away for financial help, wait a few days, and get him right back to join an improved roster.
