Week in Review
The Wolves have been on a hot streak this past week. Getting their 4th win in a row yesterday against New Orleans securing their second win in the series. They’ve also picked up big wins against the Celtics and Spurs, who are both ranked top five in their conference.
Why They've Succeeded
A big part of all this success has been coming from the young franchise star Anthony Edwards. Edwards has averaged 34 points in Minnesota’s last 7 games. Now in Minnesota’s last game against the Pelican’s, Edwards had a quieter game with just 11 points after dropping a season high 44 on Tuesday. But it seems as if we’re witnessing what might shape up to be Anthony Edwards best season yet.
Now the trend this season has been when Edwards doesn’t have a crazy night, someone else will, and yesterday it was Julius Randle. Dropping 28 pts, and 9 boards. Randle is currently averaging 22 points this season, and could be a potential All Star this year. We’ve also seen big offensive games from Jaden McDaniels, who’s been shooting 46% behind the arc, as well as Minnesota’s bench. Which is huge for the Wolves scoring. For the first time this week the Timberwolves ranked top 10 in both offensive (8th), and defensive (10th) rating.
Looking Ahead
The Wolves are currently sitting at the 6th seed in what will be another tight race in the Western Conference. If they can consistently keep playing how they are playing right now, we could potentially see another top 5 seeded team in the playoffs come April.
